#Radiation_therapy boost improved local control in DCIS of the breast with one or more risk factors as recently shown by Chua et al in The Lancet. In the randomized phase III BIG3-07/TROG 07.01 study, 1600 patients with DCIS and at least one risk feature, assigned to post operative radiation with or without boost. Different fractionation schedules were allowed. The boost group experienced five-year free-from-local-recurrence rates of 97 versus 93 percent in the no boost group (hazard ratio 0.47).
